Your performance is more than just words or a snazzy outfit. There are so many subtleties that elevate a set from good to great - from the way you say things, the rhythm of your voice, your stillness or movement and how you look at the audience.
In this workshop we take exercises from clown comedy to help us play with the rhythm of our performances and use fixed points to help punctuate what we do; enabling it to have a bigger impact.
This is a comedy workshop using a number of improvised exercises to look at timing, connecting with the audience and understanding what's working. You don't need to bring any pre-written material with you.
Suitable for any experience, from complete beginners to seasoned performers
We take lessons from clown and improvised comedy to help us play with timing, connect with the audience and make small adjustments to make our ideas land better.
Expect lots of movement, physicality and laughter
There's a mixture of group and solo time in front of the class
A stand-up? - get better at pauses, controlling your movement, milking the laugh and connecting with the audience
A clown/ alternative/ character comedian? - enhance what your doing with a better sense of rhythm and play along in these familiar and new exercises
An improviser? - Help your performances have a better flow, tune in to more nuanced movements and the impacts they have and come play!
A public speaker? - have a bigger impact with the important parts of what you're saying with small adjustments to what you're already doing
